AUTOCROSS

The Shenandoah Region PCA hosts four autocross events per year at the Augusta Government Center (map) in Verona, plus one at the Richmond Internatinal Raceway and another at the Southside Speedway during the annual Richmond Porsche Meet (RPM). An autocross is a solo race in which the drivers navigate their cars as quickly as possible through twisty courses marked by soft traffic cones. Autocross is a fun but safe introduction to high-performance driving because the cars never exceed highway speeds and drive alone on open, flat surfaces such as the large parking lot at the Augusta Government Center. Our autocrosses at the Augusta Government Center are open to Porsches and other brands of cars. Drivers and spectators do not need to be members of the Porsche Club. Loaner helmets and instruction for novice drivers are provided. There is an large open pavilion that provides shelter from sun and rain, and restrooms are available. Events are held rain or shine. Spectators can sit on the grass or bring folding chairs.

Adult participants must sign the waiver form that will be provided at each driving event. Minors may attend PCA events only if their parents bring the appropriate parental-release waiver forms. There are PDF forms for minors as observers only or for minors in restricted areas, riding or driving.

Map and driving directions: From I-81 north of Staunton, VA take Exit 225 to Route 262 (formerly Route 275) westbound towards Monterey. At the traffic light, turn right onto Route 11. At the second traffic light on Route 11, turn right into the Augusta Government Center, bear right, and follow the signs for the "public meeting rooms."
