Autocross Test, Tune, and School: Our first autocross event of 2013 was the “test, tune, and school” on April 6 at the Augusta Government Center in Verona. The day started out pretty cold, but the sun was out and eventually warmed us up. In addition to the usual Porsches and “other” gasoline-powered cars, there were two electric vehicles (a 911 and a Ford pickup truck) campaigned by the Shenendoah Valley Governor’s School.
Rick Ebinger designed a course that could be broken into two sections for simultaneous instruction, one including a slalom and a Chicago Box, and the other a keyhole loop. After about an hour of practice in each section, the two groups of drivers were turned loose on the full course. The timer was turned on but no timing records were kept.
