The last autocross of the 2011 season took place on a cool but not rainy Saturday, September 17. Rick and Erik designed a “different” and technically challenging course with sharp turns after long straights to catch the unwary, especially in the early morning when the ashphalt was cold and slippery. The FTD was 57.369 seconds, driven by Jeffrey Elmore in his 2000 Boxster S, followed by Rick Ebinger’s 58.060 in his 1974 914 (with the track tires on, and more than 4 seconds faster than with street tires). Susan Bryant won the ladies’ prize, a $90 gift certificate for Moxie Hair and Body Lounge in Charlottesville. Mark Francis of OG Racing donated enough mechanic’s gloves for every driver to take home a pair.
