Woody’s Sunday Drive
Inspired by one of our member’s preference to stay on fun roads with dividing lines, Woody’s Sunday Drive was put together by Dan Graff and Ray Chung. Forty-one cars participated in the 93.7 mile tour which started in Madison, VA, and headed north on the Old Ridge Turnpike to Route 211 to cross the Blue Ridge Mountains at Thornton Gap.
The Luray-Page County Visitor’s Center, a restored 1906 train depot and home to the Page County Railway Museum, served as the midpoint break. The return trip followed Route 340 to Route 33 crossing the Blue Ridge Mountains at Swift Run Gap before ending at The Bavarian Chef in Madison. With the addition of several dinner attendees, 61 members partook in delicious German food and shared a splendid evening socializing. Insider’s tip: make sure to attend any event that ends at The Bavarian Chef.
Thanks to Dan Graff and Ray Chung for organizing the drive. Thanks also to group leads Bates McLain, Uwe Rumor, Bob McCabe, Michael Murphy, Jon Aronson, and Steven Johnson, as well as the sweep, Mike Tucker.
