Shenandoah Region members Rick and Gina Ebinger hosted the Glenn Falls driving tour on Saturday, May 9th. As participants gathered for the pre-drive safety briefing, a local bovine ran swiftly past on Virginia Route 56. All in attendance agreed that this was the first time that a cow had been part of the briefing but sadly it wasn’t a PCA member therefore wasn’t eligible to join us.
Participants enjoyed a relaxing drive down and back on VA 56, Crabtree Falls Highway, which rivals the more famous “dragon” routes, with a midway stop at the Montebello Country Store before turning onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. Groups drove slowly and stopped along the overlooks to take in the scenic vistas and splendor of spring in the Blue Ridge.
The drive then traversed country roads back to Rick and Gina’s cool property for socializing over a tasty catered roast beef picnic lunch. A most excellent day was shared by all. The day concluded with Rick fixing a nail puncture in the sweeper’s rear tire. How the last car of 35 caught the nail remains a mystery. (Thanks again, Rick!)
