On Sunday, June 22nd, PCA members from the Shenandoah Region gathered together outside Nellysford, Virginia, then drove the back roads to Bedford where they received a guided tour of the National D-Day Memorial.
Bedford, Virginia, was selected as a site of the National D-Day Memorial as the town of only 3,200 back then lost 20 of its sons within the first minutes of the invasion on Omaha Beach. Bedford suffered the highest per capita loss of any town in the United States that fateful day.
After learning the history of the memorial and remembering the fallen, the group gathered at Bella Italia Grill & Pizzeria for lunch prior to departing for home.
